Christine Bleakley shows off engagement ring!

Arriving back in London from a US vacation in L.A. and Las Vegas with footballer Frank Lampard, TV presenter Christine Bleakley smiled for photographers as she showed off her huge GBP120,000 ring - which she has called a bit too big!

Lampard, a striker with the English national team and Chelsea in the English Premiere League, reportedly spent almost three months planning a the romantic two-week getaway and proposal - though Bleakley told her cohorts on breakfast show Daybreak that the moment was "not very fancy. It was very personal, very private actually, and we were just having a gorgeous lunch by the beach [in Los Angeles] and he simply popped the question. It was completely out of the blue.

"Halfway through the lovey-dovey bit, I realized what he was about to do so I started to cry for about ten minutes and then he pulled out the ring and said, 'Will you marry me?' And that was it."

Though the couple haven't set a date for the wedding, Bleakley says she'd like a small and private wedding in her hometown of Newtownards in Northern Ireland.

It's also been reported that the couple have already been turning down splashy magazine deals to showcase their wedding photos, wishing instead just to share the day with loved ones.

A source told the Sunday Mirror today, "Christine can't wait to get married and Frank has said whatever she wants is fine by him. Money obviously isn't a problem and Frank wants everything to be perfect for Christine. It isn't going to be some tacky celebrity wedding. This is a day purely about them and for their families and close friends."

This will be the first marriage for both, though Lampard was once engaged to Spanish model Elen Rives, with whom he has daughters Luna, 4, and Isla, 3.

Actor Brian J. White marries in Beverly Hills

And hey, since it fits, before we get started, happy 90210!

On Saturday, August 28th, actor Brian J. White (of Stomp the Yard and The Wire fame) married his girlfriend Paula Da Silva, a marketing exec, in Beverly Hills. The wedding took place at All Saints Parish Church in the luxury zip code, with a reception that followed at The Foundry on Melrose Avenue, complete with a Polite in Public photobooth - a growing wedding trend among the rich and fabulous. Guests also dined on a wedding cake baked with layers of carrot, red velvet, and marble cake with Kahlua cream frosting.

Da Silva's strapless gown came from R. Mine Bridal.

Of his wedding day, White told HipHollywood.com that he loved sharing the day with everyone he loves in the world, and called himself "blessed" because he got to marry his best friend.

The couple were engaged in January while on vacation on St. Thomas in the US Virgin Islands. Around that time, White posted the following passage on his Facebook page, calling it, "What falling in love with Paula Da Silva taught me."
“People think a soul mate is your perfect fit, and that’s what everyone wants. But a true soul mate is a mirror, the person who shows you everything that is holding you back, the person who brings you to your own attention so you can change your life. A true soul mate is probably the most important person you’ll ever meet, because they tear down your walls and smack you awake. A soul mates purpose is to shake you up, tear apart your ego a little bit, show you your obstacles and addictions, break your heart open so new light can get in, make you so out of control that you have to transform your life…” -Elizabeth Gilbert
Guests at the ceremony included actors Taraji P. Henson, Columbus Short and Tia Mowry, singers Dave Hollister and Esthero, and director Sylvain White. White once played in the NFL for the New England Patriots, and is the son of retired Boston Celtics star Jo Jo White.

This is the first marriage for both, who are off on a honeymoon in Barbados next week.

Aussie actress Kate Richie planning small, intimate wedding

Australian actress Kate Richie and her former rugby league fiance Stuart Webb are planning to wed in a small, intimate ceremony later this year, and Richie spoke about her preparations in a recent issue of Aussie mag Woman's Day.

“I’d like to think I will be a bride who, at the end of the night, can say she’s spoken to everyone individually. I think that will be the advantage of it being small and intimate,” says Richie, modelling gowns for the magazine. She was recently spotted in Sydney shopping for a dress with her sister, Rebekah, and is keeping the basic wedding details - when, where, how - to herself, but calls the day her "dream wedding."

Says Richie, who has been working hard to tone up for her wedding day, "We’re concentrating on it being the day we want it to be.”

The couple were engaged on a European holiday together last September. It will be the first marriage for both.

Jason Kidd reportedly engaged to baby mama

No wedding plans have been announced, but if true this will be Coleman's first marriage (though she famously dated hip hop mogul Russell Simmons), and Kidd's second. He is estranged and recently divorced from ex-wife Joumana, mother of his son and twin daughters.

Keyshia Cole married Boobie Gibson?

According to a source at MediaTakeOut, R&B singer Keyshia Cole married NBA star Daniel "Boobie" Gibson in a secret Malibu ceremony earlier this month. The only 'proof' might be that Gibson refers to Cole as his wife on his personal website. In May, the couple threw the urban blog off their tail by leaking plans to postpone the wedding while Cole worked on her next studio album. If the wedding took place, that's what we call mission: accomplished.

The couple welcomed their first child, son Daniel Jr. in March.

Pro cyclist Frank Schleck marries in Mamer

One of the tiny nation of Luxembourg's most famous sons - professional road cyclist Frank Schleck - celebrated a religious wedding ceremony on Saturday, August 21st with Martine Schmid, who gave birth to their daughter Leea in April.

The couple were legally married on New Year's Eve 2009 at the City Hall in Mondorf, Luxembourg, but waited until summer to celebrate with friends and family at the Church of John the Baptist in Mamer, Luxembourg, built in 1723. Fellow cyclists including Kim Kirchen and Fabian Cancellara attended, as did Schleck's fellow cyclist brother Andy - Luxembourg's reigning Man of the Year. Andy escorted the bride to the church in a white convertible.

Forgoing traditional rice, confetti, or even bubbles, the couple emerged from the church under an arch of bicycle wheels held high by attendants, to waiting crowds cheering them on.

The pair were engaged last year while on vacation at the Lions Dive & Beach Resort in Bapor Kibra, Curacao - a Dutch island in the Caribbean Sea just north of Venezuela.

Tiger & Elin - a look back

With the announcement today that Tiger Woods' divorce from Swedish former nanny Elin Nordegren is final, let's look back to the pair in a much happier time - their October 5, 2004 wedding at the Sandy Lane Resort in St. James, Barbados. The rumoured cost of the event, with the relaxed couple enjoying an extended break at the resort both before and after the ceremony (Woods rented every room in the hotel for seven days), was $1.5 million.

Among the 120 guests at the ultra-private ceremony (to this day, an official wedding photo has never been leaked) were celebrity heavyweights Oprah Winfrey, Michael Jordan, and Bill Gates. Four tents were set up on the resort grounds for the ceremony, and the vows were taken under a pagoda decorated with hundreds of imported black magic roses. The ceremony was officiated by a local Anglican priest.

Woods wore a beige suit, and Nordegren wore an off-white sleeveless scoop-neck gown with horizontal ribbon detail.

Guests dined on champagne and caviar, and blackened Scottish salmon at the reception held in the resort's banquet room, while entertainment included a performance by Hootie & the Blowfish and a fireworks display.

Over American Thanksgiving weekend last year, Woods' was busted (and beaten with his own clubs) by Nordegren when she learned of his unbelievably long trail of infidelities with call girls all over the world. Friends have been saying the couple was headed for divorce ever since, though neither had said the word themselves. Some legal experts claim that Nordegren, who did sign a prenup but had it renegotiated after the scandal, could walk away with up to $100 million in a divorce settlement.

Retired Welsh footballer renews vows to celebrate beating cancer

Welsh footballer John Hartson secretly married his longtime girlfriend, schoolteacher Sarah McManus, at a registry office in December, in the midst of a fight against testicular cancer that had spread to his brain. Upon receiving a clear scan, the couple renewed their vows July 23rd for friends and family at the luxurious Vale of Glamorgan Resort, 30 minutes from their home in Neath, Wales.

A wedding guest told The Mirror of the 35-year-old former Premiership star, "John's looking and feeling fantastic again. He wanted to have a big party to celebrate his wedding but he just wasn’t well enough when they first got married."

The vow renewal was witnessed by 200 guests, and a Scottish piper kicked off the ceremony in which Hartson donned a kilt. Guests dined on salmon and Welsh lamb, and danced late into the night in a banquet room of the hotel.

Hartson was previously married to Lowri Turner, mother of his daughters Rebecca, 11, and Joni, 7. He and McManus have been together since 2005 and have daughters Lena, 2, and Stephanie, five months.

What we've been missing

We admit it, we've been gone for too long, and some high profile celeb weddings, engagements, and break ups have proven that to us. Just a few:

Actors Megan Fox and Brian Austin Green were married in Hawaii June 24th, with only his son Kassius there to witness - and the photographer who showed the world this gorgeous wedding portrait:
And on July 11th, Green's ex-girlfriend, General Hospital star Vanessa Marcil (Kassius' mom), married CSI:NY star Carmine Giovinazzo.

We also missed the weddings of celluloid supercouple Jim and Pam of The Office. Jenna Fischer married Lee Kirk on July 3rd - Survivor's Jeff Probst officiated! - with many costars there to witness, but not her TV husband John Krasinski. Only because one week later, Krasinski married British actress Emily Blunt in Como, Italy at the home of their friend George Clooney.Just a month after announcing their engagement, on July 22nd Australian model Miranda Kerr and British actor Orlando Bloom were married. Friends now seem to be confirming that the couple is expecting their first child - making Miranda Kerr also highly susceptible to whatever in the water is making every Victoria's Secret model get pregnant.Spanish actors Javier Bardem and Penelope Cruz were married in early July in The Bahamas, and Harrison Ford and Calista Flockhart eloped at the Governor's mansion in Santa Fe, New Mexico June 15th. Alanis Morissette married rapper Mario "Souleye" Treadway May 22nd at their L.A. home - and just this week announced they're expecting their first child in December.
British actress Gemma Arterton, who starred as a Bond Girl in Casino Royale and opposite Jake Gyllenhaal in The Prince of Persia, married boyfriend Stefano Catelli on a Spanish hilltop in Zuheros, Andalucia June 5th. She compared her wedding dress to a scene in Franco Zeffirelli's Romeo & Juliet where the female protagonist is wrapped up in a sheet, saying "She looks so gorgeous! My wedding dress is kind of like that." Catelli proposed last year at the Download Music Festival in Derby, UK.

Funny stars Sacha Baron Cohen and Isla Fisher married in Paris in front of just six guests on Valentine's Day. Their second child is due this summer and will join sister Olive, 2.R&B singer Alicia Keys, five months pregnant, married rapper Swizz Beatz on the island of Corsica in the Mediterranean July 31st. Rapper T.I. got out of jail and married his longtime girlfriend and the mother of two of his kids, Tameka Cottle, in a Miami courthouse July 30th. And Carmelo Anthony of the Denver Nuggets married former MTV personality LaLa Vasquez in New York City on July 10th - it proved to be a fairly popular day - Anthony and Vasquez, Krasinski and Blunt, Carrie Underwood and Mike Fisher, and Martin Lawrence and girlfriend Shamicka Hill we're all married today.
Glee star Jane Lynch married girlfriend Dr. Lara Embry on May 28th in Massachusetts - where same-sex marriage is legal, with Embry's 8-year-old daughter there to witness.
Piers Morgan, British journalist and judge on reality shows including America's Got Talent, was married to girlfriend Celia Walden in the UK on June 24th, with a who's who of celeb friends from across the pond in attendance - but not his good friend Simon Cowell, who recently gave up his serial bachelorhood to announce his intent to wed American Idol make-up artist Mezghan Hussainy. Actress Mena Suvari married music producer Simone Sestito in Vatican City on June 26th, wearing a strapless dress by Stacey Bendet of alice + olivia despite previously expressing a desire to cover her tattoos with a gown with plenty of fabric.
Both stars of the CW's Supernatural got married! Jared Padalecki to Genevieve Cortese February 27th, and Jensen Ackles to Danneel Harris of One Tree Hill May 15th.
Among the newly engaged celebs are Ugly Betty star America Ferreira to longtime boyfriend Ryan Piers Williams, Linda Hogan (Hulk's ex) to her 21-year-old boyfriend Charlie Hill, Sister, Sister star Tamera Mowry got engaged to Fox News' Adam Housely on vacation in Italy (for the second time - they were previously engaged but broke it off, reportedly due to the fact that Tamera's twin sister Tia is no fan of her future brother-in-law), and country singers Kellie Pickler and Miranda Lambert were both engaged this spring - Pickler to boyfriend Kyle Jacobs, who proposed on the beach June 15th, and Lambert to fellow country musician Blake Shelton.
The very day teen mom Bristol Palin and ex-boyfriend Levi Johnson announced they were back together and engaged, she discovered he might have gotten another girl pregnant when they weren't together and they split - again. Also ending their engagements: former Bachelorette couple Jillian Harris and Ed Swiderski, most recent Bachelor couple Jake Pavelka and Vienna Girardi, and Brit Kelly Osbourne and model boyfriend Luke Worrall. Just days after announcing the end of the engagement over rumoured allegations of Worrall's cheating, Osbourne's dog died. Guess she's got the Jessica Simpson curse. And finally, actors Hayden Christensen and Rachel Bilson called off their 18-month engagement, with distance being blamed for the split - she's based in L.A., he in Toronto.
Getting a little further into the relationship, actors Jonathon Schaech and Jana Kramer were married July 4th - but filed for divorce this week.

Update: Hilary Duff, Mike Comrie get married

Getting engaged in Hawaii, in clear view of the paparazzi, Hilary Duff has been tight lipped about her wedding plans to NHL star Mike Comrie. In February, Comrie proposed in the room of their hotel after more than two years together.

And on Saturday, August 7th in front of 100 guests, the couple were married in an 8 p.m. ceremony at a Mediterranean villa in Santa Barbara, California, and they spent their first night as husband and wife at the San Ysidro Ranch nearby - the location which had been hotly tipped as the wedding venue.

"Mike held his arm around Hilary for most of the romantic, candlelit ceremony, and they both looked extremely happy," and eyewitness told People.com. According to OK Magazine, which exclusively reported the wedding, Duff was wearing a mermaid-style Vera Wang gown and was walked down the aisle by her mother, Susan, dressed in Badgely Mischka. Duff's older sister, actress Haylie, was maid of honour alongside four other bridesmaids.

To prepare for the big day Comrie, centre for the Edmonton Oilers, reportedly celebrated his bachelor party this week, and Duff had stepped it up to daily workouts with celeb trainer Harvey Pasternak - currently also working with Jennifer Hudson and Megan Fox. She had also been spotted last week running last-minute errands like most brides.

It feels like hockey players are a little in vogue right now - Carrie Underwood married Mike Fisher of the Ottawa Senators last month, and country singer Kellie Pickler was in a relationship with Nashville Predators right-winger Jordin Tootoo. Duff met her hockey hubby while on a private plane to an event in Idaho. He told Hockey Night in Canada last year, "We were all on the same plane and it was kind of, I guess, maybe a bit of a fluke. She calls it ironic. No I'm kidding! It [was] one of those things where we were all in a group … we spent the weekend all hanging out."

It didn't take long for Duff and her family to fall for Comrie, with Duff once saying of him, "I've never met anyone who can say a bad word about him. He's generous, caring and sunny. We just laugh our heads off."

Derek Jeter's secret wedding plans blown?

So much for keeping things off the radar - New York Yankees superstar shortstop, Derek Jeter, and his actress girlfriend, Minka Kelly, have never even come out and admitted they're a couple. They rarely get photographed together and have never confirmed reports of an August engagement, but it's the worst kept secret in the colliding worlds of major league sports and their Hollywood love lives.

Add their reported wedding date and venue to the list of poorly-kept secrets, and by now the couple may have already tried to make alternate wedding arrangements in order to keep their privacy.

A New York Post reporter got down and dirty recently, posing as a bride-to-be attempting to book a wedding at Oheka Castle - the location of Kevin Jonas' wedding one month ago - in Huntington, New York for November 5, 2010.

The castle - the second-largest private residence in the United States - has hosted lavish parties for royalty, politicians, and celebs for close to 100 years, and is equipped to hold one wedding per day. Showing her a print-out of the castle's wedding schedule, Oheka's sales manager denied her request, stating that the hotel was completely booked that weekend, and Jeter's name was clearly visible.

The reporter asked if the venue would be willing to ask the booked weeding to move for a price, and the sales manager laughed and said their clients were usually so wealthy it wasn't an issue.

"I guess if it were Derek Jeter getting married, he really wouldn't care about my money," the reporter suggested, but the sales manager was quick on his feet.

"Oh, that's not Derek Jeter," he said. "We wouldn't use his real name if it were. When the Jonas brother got married here last month, we used a different name."

Kourtney and Kim Kardashian: Not engaged

Their younger sister Khloe met and married LA Lakers star Lamar Odom within a month last fall, but celebutante Kim Kardashian went on record recently to debunk rumours that her older sister, Kourtney, was engaged to her boyfriend Scott Disick.

"They are not engaged to be married," Kim, 29, said during an interview with Dallas-based radio show Kidd Kraddick in the Morning. "I don't think Kourtney really is thinking about that right now. She's not really focused on getting married. I don't think she wants that responsibility right now. She's just having a good time loving being a mom. And I think she's just going to stick with that for right now."

Kourtney and Disick welcomed son Mason Dash on December 14th.

During the interview, Kim, who is dating New Orleans Saints' star Reggie Bush - currently chasing his first Super Bowl ring in the NFL playoffs - also said she will patiently wait for her own ring.

"I would like for them to get to the Super Bowl and win it," she said, adding in jest, "Get him a ring first. That's the deal."

LA Kings' defenseman shares wedding photos

Back on Saturday, July 11, 2009, Los Angeles Kings' defenseman Sean O'Donnell made good use of the offseason to marry his girlfriend, Laura Marie Buka. The classic vintage-themed wedding took place at Fort Street Presbyterian Church in Detroit, Michigan in front of family and friends including some of O'Donnell's present and former NHL teammates - Rob Blake, Drew Doughty, and Luc Robitaille. A reception followed in nearby Dearborn at the Henry Ford Museum.

“For my family to see me so happy and in love with a wonderful man was the highlight,” said Buka. “We’re best friends, and celebrating our day with all our closest friends and family meant the world to me.”

Buka wore a strapless Renee Strauss gown and a floor-length veil she made herself, while the bridesmaids were outfitted in gowns from David's Bridal.

At the reception, the guests dined at candlelit tables under crystal chandeliers, and watched the newlyweds share their first dance to "Let It Be Me" by Taylor Mills and Joe Brocato in a room at the Henry Ford Museum originally built to teach Ford employees the techniques of ballroom dance.

The couple, who got tattoos on their ring fingers with each other's names to celebrate their engagement, honeymooned in Greece and Italy.
