Top Chef winner Harold Dieterle weds in Atlanta

After winning the first series of Bravo reality show Top Chef in 2006, Manhattan restaurant owner Harold Dieterle attended the annual Food + Wine Cooking Expo in Aspen, Colorado - one of his prizes for winning. It was there, at an event after party, that he met fellow foodie Meredith Davies. Together almost four years, they married Saturday, September 4 in Davies' hometown of Atlanta.

The ceremony took place at a downtown church, followed by a reception at the Capital City Club of Atlanta. Davies wore a Pnina Tornai gown for the ceremony, and Dieterle wore a white dinner jacket by Paul Stuart.

Though Top Chef judge Tom Colicchio couldn't attend due to filming commitments, fellow season one competitors Lee Anne Wong and Stephen Aspirinio were among the 175 guests who watched the couple share their first dance to Ray LaMontagne's "You Are the Best Thing," and who dined on a menu catered by the club. Dieterle stayed far from the kitchen for his wedding day - he told People he didn't even know what was going to be on the menu!

The newlyweds left today for an Italian honeymoon in Rome, Positano, and Sicily.

Actor Brian J. White marries in Beverly Hills

And hey, since it fits, before we get started, happy 90210!

On Saturday, August 28th, actor Brian J. White (of Stomp the Yard and The Wire fame) married his girlfriend Paula Da Silva, a marketing exec, in Beverly Hills. The wedding took place at All Saints Parish Church in the luxury zip code, with a reception that followed at The Foundry on Melrose Avenue, complete with a Polite in Public photobooth - a growing wedding trend among the rich and fabulous. Guests also dined on a wedding cake baked with layers of carrot, red velvet, and marble cake with Kahlua cream frosting.

Da Silva's strapless gown came from R. Mine Bridal.

Of his wedding day, White told HipHollywood.com that he loved sharing the day with everyone he loves in the world, and called himself "blessed" because he got to marry his best friend.

The couple were engaged in January while on vacation on St. Thomas in the US Virgin Islands. Around that time, White posted the following passage on his Facebook page, calling it, "What falling in love with Paula Da Silva taught me."
“People think a soul mate is your perfect fit, and that’s what everyone wants. But a true soul mate is a mirror, the person who shows you everything that is holding you back, the person who brings you to your own attention so you can change your life. A true soul mate is probably the most important person you’ll ever meet, because they tear down your walls and smack you awake. A soul mates purpose is to shake you up, tear apart your ego a little bit, show you your obstacles and addictions, break your heart open so new light can get in, make you so out of control that you have to transform your life…” -Elizabeth Gilbert
Guests at the ceremony included actors Taraji P. Henson, Columbus Short and Tia Mowry, singers Dave Hollister and Esthero, and director Sylvain White. White once played in the NFL for the New England Patriots, and is the son of retired Boston Celtics star Jo Jo White.

This is the first marriage for both, who are off on a honeymoon in Barbados next week.

Pro cyclist Frank Schleck marries in Mamer

One of the tiny nation of Luxembourg's most famous sons - professional road cyclist Frank Schleck - celebrated a religious wedding ceremony on Saturday, August 21st with Martine Schmid, who gave birth to their daughter Leea in April.

The couple were legally married on New Year's Eve 2009 at the City Hall in Mondorf, Luxembourg, but waited until summer to celebrate with friends and family at the Church of John the Baptist in Mamer, Luxembourg, built in 1723. Fellow cyclists including Kim Kirchen and Fabian Cancellara attended, as did Schleck's fellow cyclist brother Andy - Luxembourg's reigning Man of the Year. Andy escorted the bride to the church in a white convertible.

Forgoing traditional rice, confetti, or even bubbles, the couple emerged from the church under an arch of bicycle wheels held high by attendants, to waiting crowds cheering them on.

The pair were engaged last year while on vacation at the Lions Dive & Beach Resort in Bapor Kibra, Curacao - a Dutch island in the Caribbean Sea just north of Venezuela.

LA Kings' defenseman shares wedding photos

Back on Saturday, July 11, 2009, Los Angeles Kings' defenseman Sean O'Donnell made good use of the offseason to marry his girlfriend, Laura Marie Buka. The classic vintage-themed wedding took place at Fort Street Presbyterian Church in Detroit, Michigan in front of family and friends including some of O'Donnell's present and former NHL teammates - Rob Blake, Drew Doughty, and Luc Robitaille. A reception followed in nearby Dearborn at the Henry Ford Museum.

“For my family to see me so happy and in love with a wonderful man was the highlight,” said Buka. “We’re best friends, and celebrating our day with all our closest friends and family meant the world to me.”

Buka wore a strapless Renee Strauss gown and a floor-length veil she made herself, while the bridesmaids were outfitted in gowns from David's Bridal.

At the reception, the guests dined at candlelit tables under crystal chandeliers, and watched the newlyweds share their first dance to "Let It Be Me" by Taylor Mills and Joe Brocato in a room at the Henry Ford Museum originally built to teach Ford employees the techniques of ballroom dance.

The couple, who got tattoos on their ring fingers with each other's names to celebrate their engagement, honeymooned in Greece and Italy.
