Mexican singer Juan Gabriel has never confirmed reports he's gay, but this week in Mexico City his former assistant announced his engagement to Spanish boyfriend Jas Devael. Gabriel's former PA Joaquin Munoz told Shanik Berman's radio show in Mexico City that, "It's hard to believe, but they told me that due to the legalization of gay marriage (in Mexico City) they were going to surprise everyone with this engagement."The couple met in 2007 through his sister, Isabel Pantoja, and have since become inseparable. Gabriel admired Devael's talent and vowed to make him a star, sending him to song and dance lessons. Gabriel, 60, produced the 21-year-old's upcoming album.
No wedding plans have been announced.
