Macca engagement rumours kick into overdrive as girlfriend's divorce finalized

Together since the final days of his contentious divorce in 2008 from charity-loving celebrity psychopath Heather Mills, Beatle Sir Paul McCartney and his wealthy American socialite girlfriend Nancy Shevell are reportedly set to wed, according to The Daily Mail. At left, they're pictured together on the red carpet at Sunday's Golden Globes.

With Shevell's own divorce just recently finalized, the Mail reports that McCartney has proposed and the couple are telling friends they plan to wed. A source told the paper, "Paul is deliriously happy with Nancy and decided she was the woman he wanted to make his third wife."

Friends, like fellow Beatle Ringo Starr, are reported to be thrilled for the couple, as is McCartney's children. Fashion designer daughter Stella, who famously disliked Mills, is said to be a fan of Shevell's, and Mills herself praised McCartney's potential future wife, saying, "My daughter says she's wonderful."

Reps won't confirm or deny a possible engagement. This would be McCartney's third marriage - before Mills he was wed to "the love of my life," Linda, with whom he has four children and who died of cancer in 1998. He has a six-year-old daughter, Beatrice, with Mills. Shevell has a teenage son from her recently-ended marriage to Bruce Blakeman.
